About Us
Grayling and Crawford County
Grayling is a small town and the seat of Crawford County. Over 70 percent of our local land is public, with the majority open for recreation. You will see few fences in our area. The area has long been a center of a wide variety of outdoor activities. We have retained our small town feel and have avoided shrinking away or growing into another faceless Anytown USA. If you look closely at our 'How to Get Here' page, you'll see we are the center of many types of outdoor recreation and a wide variety of trails.
Grayling Visitors Bureau
The Grayling Visitors Bureau is the official tourism marketing program for Crawford County, Michigan. Our Mission Statement is "to promote Crawford County as a recreational destination with the intent of increasing overnight stays in member businesses, which will have a positive economic impact on the entire area". The GVB is a 501C6, created under Michigan’s Public Act 59 and is a member of the Michigan Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
We operate as perhaps the smallest tourism marketing organization in Michigan that employs paid staff. Our board of directors is composed of lodging property owners and managers, all local residents with interest and enthusiasm for the area. Our current board and staff:
- Gaye Lee-Peters, Director of the GVB since 2023
- Rob Tomlinson, President and Board Chair since 2010, owner of the Woodland Motor Lodge
- Jay Hollingsworth, board member, partner/manager at Super 8
- Don Helinski, board member, lodging manager at Forest Dunes
- Mike Clark, board member, marketing manager at Au Sable Riverview Resort
- Justin Davis, Vice President, owner of Borcher's Bed & Breakfast
